On December 18th, 2013, the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Tsukuba and the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) signed an agreement to open an office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the MJIIT campus.
The Kuala Lumpur Office of the University of Tsukuba serves as a base to further promote institutional exchanges and cooperation in Southeast Asia, taking advantage of the University of Tsukuba’s specialty in the field of environmental science and technology. The collaboration between the university and MJIIT also encourages the mobility of staff and students in education and research.
MJIIT was established on the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) International campus in the capital of Kuala Lumpur in June 2012 with support from the Japanese government. As an international hub, MJIIT aims to cultivate high-quality human resources in the sciences, looking for individuals with applied skills and research developmental capacities. Twenty-five universities, including the University of Tsukuba, cooperate closely as members of the consortium of MJIIT support universities.
