Attendance of JSPS-Abend 2016
On 8 September 2016 Yusaku Nishijima, Representative Officer of the University of Tsukuba Bonn Office, attended the JSPS-Abend 2016 in Bonn. The JSPS-Abend is an annual event held by the JSPS Bonn liaison office which aims to foster academic exchange between Japan and Germany. Also this year many people associated with academic exchange were present: Researchers from research institutes and universities from all over Germany, Japanese researchers residing in Germany and embassy and consular staff.
By attending such events the University of Tsukuba Bonn Office hopes to create good ties to figures of the Japanese-German academic exchange and collect the latest information from Japanese-German academic circles.
On 7 September 2016 Prof. Dr. Gesine Foljanty-Jost of Halle-Wittenberg University paid a courtesy call to Caroline Benton Fern, vice president of the University of Tsukuba.
The University of Tsukuba will hold a cultural week featuring Taiwan this year. Several events are planned, with Taiwanese food & drinks, movies, and live performances on September 16 to 20, 2016.
Dialogue exchange between Taiwan's Dr. Tsai Mao-Feng and President Nagata - Now Available!
During the visit to Taiwan last April 2016, President Nagata met with Dr. Tsai Mao-Feng, Former Professor of Soochow University and leading expert in the field of Japanese language education in Taiwan. The two had a dialogue, and the text of the exchange can now be accessed in the link below.

Career Talk held on campus
On July 12, 2016, a talk on the topic of studying and working abroad was organized by the University of Tsukuba’s Career Support Section and Global Commons on Tsukuba campus (Room 1C403, Building 1C).
On July 14, 2016, a briefing session was held at the University of Tsukuba Bonn Office for students from the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne who are planning to study in the University of Tsukuba this fall.
Japan Cultural Week 2016 at KazNU
Each language course of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) organizes a cultural week annually. In this context, Japan Cultural Week 2016 was held from 26th April to 1st May 2016 by the people responsible for the Japanese language course.
On 5th July 2016, a delegation from Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan consisting of five postgraduate students and one lecturer, visited the University of Tsukuba. The group was attended by a tour organizer from the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC).
The 2nd International Student Forum was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) on 25th March, 2016.
A summer program in Japanese language and culture was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) last 20th to 24th June, 2016 to attract Kazakh students to learn more about Japan through learning the language and culture at KazNU.
On 11th June, 2016, a friendly sports event, Japan Sports Festival, was held at the gymnasium of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Approximately 40 local people participated in the festival.
The 4th Meeting of Japanese and Brazilian students, organized by ANBEC, will be held on 19th July, 2016.
On 12 July 2016, a talk on the topic “It’s nice to study and work abroad” (kaigai de manabu tte ii ne, kaigai de hataraku tte ii ne) organized by the Career Support and Global Commons section of the University of Tsukuba will be held from 2-3.30 PM at Room 1C403, 1C Building at the Tsukuba campu

On 30 June 2016 the JANET Forum 2016 “Explore Research in Japan” was held at Henry-Ford-Bau at Freie Universität Berlin, one of our partner universities.
On 28 and 29 June Tsukuba University President Kyosuke Nagata, Vice President Caroline Fern Benton and Osamu Oneda of the Office of Global Initiative participated in an academic conference under the title “Education, Research and Innovation - The Universities’ Mission between Academic Core Values
The third and last day of the Tsukuba-UCI Science Partnership Conference, December 11, focused on the fields of exercise medicine and neuroscience.
The second day, December 10, focused on presentations in the molecular and cellular foundations of human biology.
The first day, December 9, scheduled the Young Scientist Symposium in the morning, while the Entrepreneurship Workshop was held in the afternoon.
The German Tsukuba Society held a meeting in Berlin on June 27. Director Keiichi Aizawa of the University of Tsukuba Bonn Office took charge of the meeting.
On 27 June 2016 an information event for FU Berlin students set to spend a year abroad at the University of Tsukuba was held at the International Office of FU Berlin.
