University of Bochum President visits Tsukuba

On April 29, 2018, Prof. Axel Schoelmerich, University of Bochum president, visited the University of Tsukuba. Prof. Akira Matsumura, former Director of the University of Tsukuba Bonn Office, together with Prof. Keiichi Aizawa, current Director of the Bonn Office, and Prof. Akira Uedono, current Deputy Director, toured campus facilities including the university hospital as well as the Geological Museum in Tsukuba City. 

In October 2017, the city mayor of Bochum led a delegation to Tsukuba. From July 5-7, 2018, President Kyosuke Nagata of the University of Tsukuba will be leading a delegation of faculty members from various fields to participate in Science Day at the University of Bochum.

In 2007, the University of Bochum concluded a faculty-level agreement with the University of Tsukuba in the field of information systems in urban planning. In 2016, a university-level agreement for exchange of students and researchers was also concluded between the two universities. Furthermore, Cyberdyne Care Robotics, Inc., a European base for developing Prof. Yoshiyuki Sankai's HAL robot suits was also established in Bochum, Germany.
