On February 20, 2017, Director Masaki Ono, in charge of the Central Asian region for the University of Tsukuba, visited Vice President Khikmetov Askar of Kazakh National University. Since the conclusion of an academic exchange agreement between the two universities in October 2007, several excellent students from the University of Tsukuba have participated in Russian language courses in Kazakhstan and Director Ono expressed his gratitude on this.
In addition, a briefing session on the Campus-in-Campus (CiC) initiative of the University of Tsukuba was held for executive officers of Kazakh National University, and its faculty members in charge of research and education. Kazakh National University would like to promote the exchange of researchers in the fields of biology, chemistry and physics, and the dispatch of Kazakh and Russian language teachers to the University of Tsukuba. Desert research is a strength of both universities and it is a field where promotion of exchange is progressing well.
