On March 3, 2017, the 3rd International Student Forum was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University’s Department of Oriental Studies in Kazakhstan. The purpose of holding this annual event is for students to make presentations on social problems using the language they are studying. In 2015 and 2016, the themes were in foreign language education and gender issues, respectively. For 2017, the forum dealt with the elderly issue in Japan and Kazakhstan. Students from the University of Tsukuba discussed the problems of elderly people in Japan in the Russian language while the students in Kazakhstan made their presentations about the aging problem in Kazakhstan in the Japanese language.
