During November 7-8, 2015, the University of Tsukuba Bonn Office, represented by its Director Keiichi Aizawa and Representative Officer, Mr. Yusaku Nishijima, attended the International Conference celebrating the 20th anniversary of Asian Studies at the University of Ljubljana.
This event is an international forum for humanities researchers in Japan and Europe, which was jointly organized by the Institute for Comparative Research (ICR) in Human and Social Sciences of the University of Tsukuba, Department of Asian and African Studies of the University of Ljubljana, as well as the University of Franche-Comté in cooperation with the Association of Comparative Philosophy and Interdisciplinary Education (KoPhil) of the University of Vienna, the University of Maribor, and the Institute of Contemporary History Ljubljana.
Prof. Saburo Aoki, Co-Director of the ICR and Prof. Andrej Bekes of the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Arts coordinated the event. Over 30 students and researchers from Japan and Europe presented a wide range of research results and participated in discussions on the theme of “Trajectories from Pre-Modern to Post-Modern”.
University of Tsukuba students who are currently studying abroad at the University of Franche-Comté and University of Bonn via the COMPAS-CJS Program, as well as Prof. Aoki, participated in the event. Through research presentations in English and discussions with European researchers, they were able to deepen their understanding of the culture of both regions and their respective social problems.
The University of Tsukuba Bonn Office strives to enhance international academic exchange for our students and researchers by supporting these events.
