Master's Program in Biological Sciences

About us

The master's and doctoral programing in Biological Sciences aims to train researchers and advanced professionals who possess the research capability necessary for creative research. This program consist of 8 research fields, Taxonomy and Evolution, Ecology, Plant development and physiology, Animal development and physiology, Molecular cell biology, Genome bioinformatics, Advanced cell biology, Advanced molecular biology. Each of the eight fields is not independent, and we promote research and education while complementing each other. We also have an education system in collaboration with other research institutions (RIKEN, AIST, NIAS, NIID, and Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science, etc.) Several professors in our program belong to these research institutions, and can accept students.


In order to acquire a master's degree, it is necessary to satisfy the following requirements: 1) studying in the former course for 2 years or more, 2) acquiring more than 30 credits of the given subjects, 3) submitting your master's thesis and pass the defense. Also, students who raised excellent research achievements can finish the program in less than years. The degree that you can acquire in this program is Master of Science.
