In the Bachelor’s Program in Interdisciplinary Engineering, we focus on creation of human resources who will contribute to develop appropriate technologies for the next generation of society based on their Interdisciplinary knowledge achieved through this program.

 

Engineering program outline subjects

 

To contribute to the solutions of various contemporary challenges in the 21st century society, e.g. issues related to energy, environment, water, etc., modern science and technology are expected to play more effective and practical roles rather than the academic role only. In other words, the ability to respond more flexibly to the social demands is becoming essential for engineers and researchers.

Thus, as a university of the 21st century, to take part in creating a sustainable and smart society for future generations, the University of Tsukuba introduces the Bachelor’s program in Interdisciplinary Engineering.

The specific objective of this program is to offer comprehensive and advanced education and training in research, ranging from the basics of natural science to applications in science and technology, so that they can contribute to the solution of the above mentioned social challenges. Our Bachelor’s program in Interdisciplinary Engineering has been desigined in the framework of traditional engneering, ICT and the internet of things (IoT).

Bachelor’s Program in Interdisciplinary Engineering (IDE) offers a few slots of government scholarships (MEXT) to the students. This scholarship will cover admission and tuition fees, a monthly allowance of 117,000 Japanese yen, and round-trip air tickets. MEXT scholarship recipients will be selected from the top successful applicants, based on their performance in the entrance examination of the program (two-stage screening). No prior application is necessary before the entrance examination.
